Can Your Vehicle Pass The Test?
Vehicle burglaries can be prevented. How does your vehicle score?
Do you always remove the keys?
Do you always lock the doors and close the windows?
Do you remove all personal items, such as cell phones, purses, laptops, cash and weapons from plain view?
Do you have, and use, an audible alarm system?
Do you always remove any portable devices, such as a GPS system, DVD player, removable face plate from the dash radio, etc.?
Do you always remove your garage door opener from your vehicle when parking in the driveway or street?
Do you keep any belongings that need to be left in the vehicle, in the trunk and out of plain view?
If you answered YES to all of these questions, your vehicle passed the test with an A+. Great job!
If you answered even one question with a NO, your vehicle is an easy target for vehicle burglars.
Make your vehicle harder to target by securing it and either removing all personal items or placing them completely out of view.

Don't let a GRINCH ruin your holidays! Please take the following precautions when out and about during the holidays.
NEVER leave anything of value in your vehicle, including purses, newly purchased items, electronics, gym bags, laptops, etc.
ALWAYS lock your car doors and windows and those around your home. Burglars are looking for an easy way to get in and steal your valuables!
ALWAYS keep your garage door closed when you are not in visible sight of it. DO NOT leave your garage remote control visible in your car.
DO NOT carry large amounts of cash when shopping. Keep credit cards, cash and other valuables in a waist pack or in your pockets. Beware of pick pockets and large crowds.
NEVER leave your purse unattended in a shopping cart, the car, etc.
TAKE ADVANTAGE of clerks or security who are willing to assist you to your car and help carry packages.
DO NOT leave your purse unattended as you are loading/unloading your groceries. DO NOT leave it in your car while returning the cart. Try to park near lights after dark and near the cart return.
TRY to go shopping without any children, so you are not distracted.
DO your shopping early to avoid crowded areas and potential thieves.

Police Stress the Dangers of Discharging Firearms into the Air
Whether in Mesa, or anywhere in Arizona, it is illegal to discharge a firearm within or into the limits of any municipality. A person committing this crime is guilty of a Class 6 felony. A.R.S. 13-3107.A is known as "Shannon's Law" and has to do with the tragic death of a young girl who was struck by a stray bullet after some individuals had been firing a gun into the air while celebrating. This type of random gunfire most often occurs around New Year's Eve in certain areas of Arizona, where it seems to have become a tradition to fire shots at midnight.
New Year's Eve is a time to celebrate with family and friends. Do not ruin your New Year or that of someone else's by firing a gun into the air or ground. The shot you fire could strike and seriously injure or kill an innocent victim, and you could be arrested and booked into jail. |
