ALHAMBRA NIGHT OUT CELEBRATION – AUGUST 4

Alhambra will join communities across America in celebration of the Nation Night Out Against Crime, Tuesday, August 4, 2009.  The Alhambra Police Department is busy planning what will promise to be the best Night Out ever.  The 2009 Alhambra Night Out theme is “Safety Is Fun” and will feature several of the police department’s family safety programs such as,  Neighborhood Watch, Safe Escape (a children’s abduction and molestation prevention program), the Safe Moves Traffic Safety Program, and NetSmartz (an internet safety program for children and their parents).  The big highlight of the evening that you won’t want to miss, is the Alhambra All Star Little Leaguers taking on the Alhambra’s police officers in a “friendly” game of baseball.  Can you think of a better way to spend an August evening with your family and neighbors?  Come support the youth of our community and our police officers!  Food, fun, and a great evening guaranteed.  Here are the details to mark on your calendar:

APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE FOR THE FALL CITIZENS POLICE ACADEMY

Are you bored with Wednesday night television?  Instead of watching “reality tv”, why not be a part of the reality of Alhambra law enforcement by being an Alhambra Citizens Police Academy participant?

The Citizens Police Academy is a ten week course designed to introduce the principals and practices of a modern day municipal law enforcement agency to members of the community.  Academy sessions, such as criminal and civil law, patrol procedures, use of force, crime scene investigation, drug and gang enforcement, and everything else to do with law enforcement, are taught by Alhambra’s veteran law enforcement officers.  Participants are even invited to “ride-a-long” with a patrol officer on duty.  It doesn’t get any more real than this!  Classes will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 PM to 9:30 PM at the Alhambra Police Department between September 2 and November 4, 2009.

Persons interested in attending the Alhambra Citizens Police Academy must be at least 18 years of age and submit an application to the Alhambra Police Department.  For more information and an application, contact the Crime Prevention Office (626) 570-5177, or email:  swilliams@alhambrapd.org.
