Vacation House Check Services Are you planning a summer vacation? Before you leave, here's one more thing to put on your "to do" list - complete a Vacation House Check Request by calling the Crime Prevention Office at (626) 570-5177. The Alhambra Police Department provides free residential security checks for vacationing or hospitalized residents of single family homes or duplexes. Homes on the VHC service list will be periodically checked by a uniformed member of the Alhambra Police Department during the homeowners absence. During a vacation house check, a foot patrol is conducted on the property to insure the home is secured and that windows and doors are locked and undamaged. If by chance a burglary occurs at the residence while the homeowner is vacationing, the homeowner or a person the homeowner has specified, will be notified from the VHC emergency contact list.
To complete a Vacation House Check Request, (1) Phone the Crime Prevention Office at (626) 570-5177 at least seven days before you leave. Crime prevention staff will complete the list over the phone. (2) Fill out the Vacation House Check Request form in person at the Alhambra Police Department, or (3) Download the Vacation House Check Request form from the City of Alhambra website, cityofalhambra.org. The form can be found on the police department, crime prevention web pages. After completing the form, you can fax the form to (626) 308-4841, or scan the form and send to crimeprevention@alhambrapd.org.
In providing this service, we hope to provide our residents with a little extra peace of mind in leaving their homes unoccupied over an extended period of time. |

Distraction Burglars They're back!!! In the last weeks of April, we had reports of distration burglars visiting homeowners in the southwest portion of town. The suspects pretended to be service workers (such as painters, pest control employees, or water company employees). To commit their crime, a "service worker" requests that the homeowner escort him or her to the backyard. If the homeowner falls for this rouse and takes the "service worker" to the backyard, there is a very good chance that an accomplice of the "service worker" will sneak into the home looking for, and taking, cash and jewelry. Don't Fall For This "Escort" Service! Remember, never open your doors to strangers and never go places with strangers - even if it is to your own backyard.
If you notice any suspicious characters or activity in your neighborhood, call the Alhambra Police Department as soon as possible by calling (626) 570-5151. |
