KEIZER POLICE LAUNCH NEW COMMUNITY NOTIFICATION SERVICE

What is Nixle? Nixle is the first certified and secure communication platform that allows local police and municipal agencies to instantly connect with residents by text message, email or the web, in the most trusted, reliable and geographically-targeted way.  Nixle is a service that allows you to receive trusted, up-to-the-minute, neighborhood-level information for where you live, work, visit - or for where your family and friends are located throughout the country. You choose the information you want, for the locations you want, from urgent public safety alerts to less time sensitive advisories and community information. You choose how you want to receive the information, whether it is over your cell phone by text message, by email, or over the web. You stay connected to what is happening in the communities and the locations that are relevant to you. Registration is FREE, SIMPLE, and SECURE. There is no advertising or SPAM and no installation is required. To sign up for Nixle or to find out more information, please visit www.nixle.com and click on Consumer Information. There is a link to a short video that explains how the community notification service works.  If you have any questions, please call Sgt. Lance Inman at 503-856-3475 or email inmanl@keizer.org

HALLOWEEN SAFETY

Wear light-colored clothing that’s short enough to prevent tripping and add reflective tape to the sides, front and back of the costume

Make sure children can see through face masks, or use cosmetics to create fun or scary faces

Adults should accompany young children

Stay within your neighborhood and only visit homes you know

Use a flashlight, glow stick, or other illumination device

Watch for traffic and don’t assume cars can see you

Only accept properly wrapped or packaged candy or treats

Have an adult inspect all candy before eating it

Keep costumed children away from pets.  The pet may not recognize children and may become frightened and attack

Never trick-or-treat alone
